The photos below were taken in the first half of the 20th century, most by the Farm Security Administration and the Office of War Information, both of which were federal agencies. I am conducting a research project to find out about the lives of the people who were photographed, by identifying the persons, and then finding them, or their descendants. These photos I have posted represent all the ones I have worked on so far. Many were taken by John Vachon, my favorite FSA photographer. Some of the photos represent great successes. In a few other cases, descendants declined to be interviewed. Still others are a mystery because I have been unable to identify the unnamed person or persons in them. Click on the photos to find out more. My project continues, so check back for updates.
